Introducing the Hot-Shop

Step inside the hot shop and work with fire, breath, and molten glass. For thousands of years, glass has been shaped the same way: gathered from a furnace, turned by hand, and formed with breath and gravity. In our Berlin studio, we open this ancient craft to everyone.

This intro class is your first encounter with hot glass. You will work in a functioning glass studio, guided by our team of fabulous glass artists, using the same tools and methods that have been passed down through generations.

You will learn how to gather molten glass from the furnace, shape it on the pipe, and blow your first form. Each participant creates their own paper-weight & a cup— all made by your own breath and hands!

Classes are on Wednedsays and Saturdays at 10:00am.

They are taught in English, German, Italian (by request) or French (by request).

Wear cotton clothing (no shorts—jeans are best!), Closed-toe, comfortable shoes, Most importantly—get ready to have fun! 

At the start of class, you’ll receive a paper bag where you must write:
– Your name
– The class date
–  The kiln section where your glass and paperweight will be stored

This helps us keep track of everyone’s work and makes collection easier.
